A Beautiful Story of Hope, Healing and New Beginnings

The Twilight Garden was such a lovely, happy-heart story, and I am so pleased I picked it up. The gorgeous cover initially caught my attention, but the story inside was every bit as lovely and gave me the perfect escape from real life. This was my first book by Emma Davies, and having already discovered a couple more of her books waiting on my Kindle, I have a feeling it won’t be long before I am reading her again.

I really enjoyed Emma Davies’s writing style. There was an almost illustrated quality to the way she described the scenes, making it so easy to picture the places and people as I read. The story was beautifully paced too. Real life meant my reading was interrupted far more often than usual, but I could pick the book back up and immediately settle into the story again without ever feeling that I had lost my connection with it.

I loved Gemma. She was such a lovely character, and I quickly became invested in her story. There was a vulnerability to her that made it easy to care about what she had been through, but I also loved watching her begin to find her feet again and discover what she wanted from the next chapter of her life.

The setting was another part of the story I particularly loved. The farm is very much a work in progress, with the land gradually being given a new purpose, and I loved the sense of possibility that surrounded it. Even the nearby village sounded like somewhere I would happily wander around.

The garden itself was especially lovely. I enjoyed watching it gradually emerge and discovering more about what had once been there as the story unfolded. There was something beautiful about a garden that hadn’t really gone away, but simply needed to be uncovered, cared for and given the opportunity to blossom again. It fitted the story perfectly.

I also loved the sense of community that developed throughout the story. There was such a lovely mixture of people, each bringing their own warmth and personality, and together they helped make this little corner of Cornwall somewhere I thoroughly enjoyed escaping to.

A wonderfully uplifting and enjoyable novel that gave me exactly the reading escape I needed. I highly recommend The Twilight Garden, and I’ll definitely be reading more from Emma Davies.
