Here comes Freddie FEROCIOUS, a mouth full of plums,
Mike Mogg (2021)
black leather gloves without any thumbs.
A large stripy pillow tied round his middle,
a newspaper hat, a bow from a fiddle …
Crackonola is a world of adventure where Granny has a grasshopper and rides it just for fun. Then Gerald gets rescued from his trumpet by the chimney sweep and Sally joins the circus. Whatever will happen next?

I loved this fun illustrated book of poetry. Whilst it appears to be a book for children, don’t be fooled – these are fun poems no matter the age of the reader!
The author has shown their talents in the poetry and the illustrations which are scattered throughout this book. The book is simply a beautiful gift for any reader and is guaranteed to make you smile and brighten even the dullest day.
The poems are full of character and remind me of Roald Dahl’s writing in so much as this feels like an authentic book from my childhood – with much better illustrations than we had back in those days!
