About the Author
Robin Roughley is the author of around forty novels, many featuring the force of nature that is DS Lasser, the laconic, sometimes world-weary sergeant who patrols the streets of Wigan in the north-west of England. He also writes in a number of genres, including hard bitten and cosy crime, plus comedy, with a supernatural romance thrown into the mix.
After working at several jobs, including paint maker, pie salesman (a job that anyone from Wigan has to have done at some point) to pallet maker and eventually truck driver, he decided to try his hand at writing a book and so the first Lasser adventure saw the light of day.
He has been a full-time self-published author since two-thousand and thirteen and still finds it hard to fathom how he has got here. When not tapping away at the keyboard, he likes to go for walks to solve plot problems and find new ways to bump people off.
My Review
I loved this book! It is batsh*t crazy, unlike anything I’ve read before. It’s a darkly comic twisted tale which at times horrified me, and others had me laughing and cheering on the serial killers!! Since reading it I have been looking at those I come into contact with outside in a very different way. You just never know what someone is capable of!
The closest description I could, and have, given it when recommending to friends is that it is a tale that would be perfect for the BBC comedy drama series, Inside No.9. Yes! It’s that type of crazy – read it and let me know if you agree!
The author has given us well established characters who could be living next door to any of us – even you, reading this now! We never know what our neighbours are thinking and doing with their days.
I found this to be a brilliantly constructed story with that thread of dark humour running through it. There were times I couldn’t believe what I was reading – are there really people out there that think and do these things?
This is a book that grabbed my attention from the beginning and I could not put it down until the end. If you like dark humour, this is the book for you!
