Sometimes, a book finds you at exactly the right moment — and Healing Hearts in Port Berry was that book for me.
This beautiful, emotional story follows Demi, who finds herself in the small coastal town of Port Berry after a heartbreaking betrayal, and Robson, a widower who has built a quiet, meaningful life helping others heal. When their paths cross in the most tender of ways, a gentle friendship begins to blossom into something neither of them expected — but perhaps everything they both need.
The romance is a slow burn, built on understanding, mutual respect, and the unspoken bond of grief. Both Demi and Robson are navigating loss and pain in different ways, and I found myself completely swept up in their journey — not just toward each other, but toward healing and hope.
K.T. Dady has created a setting that feels like a hug. Port Berry is the kind of fictional town I wish I could visit in real life — warm, welcoming, and full of community spirit. The found-family theme is strong here, and the support network around both characters made me feel like I was part of something special.
There were moments in this book that truly stopped me in my tracks. I highlighted so many lines I’ll go back to again and again — comforting, insightful, quietly powerful. One quote near the start hit me so hard it changed the course of my week — and I’ve shared more about that below, in case it helps someone else too. I’m dealing with a few personal things at the moment, and honestly, this book felt like therapy in disguise. It spoke to my heart in a way very few stories have managed to.
This might be book five in the Port Berry series, but it works perfectly as a standalone — although I’ve now bought the rest of the series because I’m not ready to leave these characters behind.
If you’re looking for a warm, hopeful, emotional read that will lift your spirits and stay with you long after the last page, this is the one. A visit to Port Berry is truly unforgettable.

A moment that truly mattered to me…
“It was best to keep active, give her mind something to focus on, and pretend she was just another average everyday person going about life as though nothing bad had ever happened.”
This line appears early in the book — and it jumped off the page at me. At the time, I was struggling with something personal. Something that, to most people, might seem small or insignificant… but to me, it was everything. I was overwhelmed and found myself crying constantly, unable to see a way past the hurt.
But this line — this simple but true line — shifted something in me. I got up. I busied myself with little tasks around the flat. Bit by bit, the tears lessened. I painted my bedroom. I gave myself something else to focus on. And here I am, a week later, no longer crying every time I think about what happened.
That’s the quiet, unseen power of a good book: it reaches into your real life and gently helps you find your way again. And for that, I’ll always be grateful to Healing Hearts in Port Berry.
