If She’s Found by Alesha Dykema

📖 Book Description

Meet Andi.
Devoted wife.
Adoring mom.
Killer?

My daughter’s missing. And the police think I killed her.

Monday, 8 a.m. I go to wake up eight-year-old Bella to get her ready for school.

She’s not there.

My husband Charlie and I put her to bed as usual the night before. We kissed her goodnight. Just like we always do.

Things like this don’t happen to people like us. Not in a quiet little town like Spencer, Michigan.

Detective Anne Briar is leading the case. I know she suspects I’m not telling her everything. I see it in the way her eyes narrow ever so slightly. And she’s right.

No one must ever know what really happened the night Bella disappeared.

About the Author

Alesha Dykema is a thirty-something-year-old author of thriller novels. She lives in the dreadful Midwest with her strange husband, head-banging toddler son, a neurotic dog, and warden cat.

Besides writing, Alesha loves to read (like every other author in the world). Alesha is also a health and fitness junkie and a dabbler in furniture refinishing. She is extremely anti-social and wishes she lived off-grid in the middle of the woods, but her husband hates good ideas and happiness and won’t allow this to happen.

Even though she’s pretty anti-social, she still likes to make new friends and have casual chats about people’s childhood traumas.

My Review

Alesha Dykema’s If She’s Found is a tense and gripping thriller that delves into every parent’s worst nightmare: the disappearance of a child. Dykema pulls readers into the quiet town of Spencer, Michigan, where Andi and Charlie’s seemingly perfect life is shattered when their eight-year-old daughter, Bella, vanishes overnight.

From the very beginning, it’s clear that these parents have something to hide, which immediately hooked me and kept me turning the pages to uncover their secrets. The story is packed with twists and suspense, and the fast-moving narrative made this a quicker, engaging read. While some details—like broader investigations or community involvement—are not explored in depth, this focus keeps the story tightly centered on Andi and Charlie’s experience, maintaining its momentum.

The parents’ actions, especially regarding Bella’s disappearance, kept me guessing, and even by the end, I found myself puzzled by some of their choices. However, the atmosphere of unease that Dykema creates is gripping, and I was intrigued to see how everything would unfold.

If you’re looking for a psychological thriller with unreliable narrators, an air of mystery, and plenty of tension, If She’s Found is a solid pick. Its compact length and sharp pacing make it an excellent choice for fans of fast-paced, twisty reads.

I really enjoyed this tense thriller. I am, once again, thankful to Zooloo’s Book Tours for introducing me to a new author who I will most certainly be reading more of in the coming months.
