I found this an extremely disturbing book to read due to the content, which includes domestic violence, psychological abuse, gaslighting, brain injury, and memory loss. The writing was so vivid and realistic that it felt as though I was there, watching the events unfold, powerless to stop the abuse. I had to remind myself more than once that this was a work of fiction. There were moments I almost gave up reading because of how uncomfortable and emotionally intense it was, but I’m so glad I persevered. Rowen Chambers has crafted an absolutely brilliant psychological thriller that gets under your skin and stays with you long after the final page.
