It’s Publication Day, and I am extremely excited to be joining celebrating the publication of Malcolm Hollingdrake’s new release, TREBLE CLEF, the eighth book in the Harrogate Crime Series!

About the Author

You could say that the writing was clearly on the wall for someone born in a library that they might aspire to be an author, but to get to that point Malcolm Hollingdrake has travelled a circuitous route. Malcolm worked in education for many years, even teaching for a period in Cairo before he started writing, a challenge he had longed to tackle for more years than he cares to remember. He has written a number of successful short stories, has nine books now available and is this is the eighth crime novel set in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Born in Bradford and spending three years at Ripon College, Malcolm has never lost his love for his home county, a passion that is reflected in the settings for all the DCI Bennett novels. Currently, Malcolm is writing a new series which is set in Merseyside. Malcolm has enjoyed many hobbies including collecting works by Northern artists; the art auctions offer a degree of excitement when both buying and certainly when selling. It is a hobby he has bestowed upon DCI Cyril Bennett, the main character in his successful Bennett series.

My Review
I loved this book. From the very start, I was completely gripped and found it almost impossible to put down.
I particularly enjoyed the working relationship between Bennett and Owen. Their partnership works brilliantly, and I thought Malcolm Hollingdrake did an excellent job of bringing the investigation and police procedures to life without slowing the pace of the story. And talking of pace… this is a gripping read! There is always something happening, and I honestly can’t think of many places where I would have wanted to put it down. It is the sort of book that makes you think “just one more chapter” — and suddenly you’ve reached the final page.
Treble Clef was my first introduction to Malcolm Hollingdrake’s Harrogate Crime Series, but it certainly won’t be my last. Having enjoyed this one so much, I’m going straight back to the beginning and starting the series from book one.
In a word? Awesome. I can’t wait to read more from Malcolm Hollingdrake.
