The Secrets We Keep by Kate Hewitt

MoMo’s Book Diary highly recommends the new release by Kate Hewitt – “The Secrets We Keep” which is a powerful, emotional and captivating book.

This book tells the story of one summer for two families with alternating chapters which I found captivating yet slow and I was continually wishing the book would speed up – until it did and then I wished for it to slow down and last longer.

I think this may be due to the latest books I have been reading have all been shorter and very fast paced where I could read in one day.  This one took two days so really not that much different and it was very gripping from half-way by which point I was completely wrapped in the two mothers and how they would deal with their own secrets.

The author has penned a fantastic story. I will definitely be looking out for this author in future and recommending to friends and followers of momobookdiary book blog.

Thanks to Bookouture, Kate Hewitt and Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this prior to publication.

Synopsis

When Tessa arrives at the little house by the lake with her two children, it is an escape. The rental house may be a bit small – but it’s theirs for the summer. A place to hide…

However, their isolation is disrupted by the family from the big house next door. Three children and their glamorous mother Rebecca – who seems determined to invite Tessa into their lives.

Rebecca, however, is harbouring a dark secret. And when it becomes too much for her to bear, Tessa seems to be the only person she can turn to.

But as powerful bonds form between the two families, choices will be made that can never be undone. And as the summer comes to an end, nothing can keep everyone safe. And one family will pay the ultimate price…
