Thank you to Janey Clarke, Blossom Spring Publishing, and Zooloo’s Book Tours for including me on this book tour and for providing a copy of the digital edition of this western saga to read and review. It’s a great series and I am so pleased you shared this with me from the very start.
As always, this review reflects my honest thoughts.
About the book
In the rugged heart of the Devil’s Mountains, danger lies in every shadow, and courage is tested at every turn. Josh and Amy find themselves thrust into a treacherous web of conspiracy and survival when a perilous rescue mission delivers cryptic papers into their hands. These documents expose a confederate plot led by the infamous Jesse James, marking them as targets of mysterious black-clad figures who demand their silence—or their lives.
Shadowhawk, a sinister and vengeful figure, terrorizes local homesteads, leaving cryptic biblical verses promising judgment in his wake. Meanwhile, a relentless stalker hunts Josh, and a devastating grasshopper swarm threatens their land and livelihood.
Amidst the chaos, their feelings for each other grow, but that vulnerability could be their greatest risk!
With government intrigue, ruthless bandits, and ancient prophecies closing in, Josh and Amy must summon every ounce of strength and courage to navigate the mounting dangers. As the shadows of the past and present close in, they race against time to uncover the truth, secure the treasure, and carve out a future—before the untamed West claims them all.

My Review🔥
The Flames of Justice by Janey Clarke takes everything I’ve loved about this series so far and raises the stakes even higher. From the very first page, I felt as though I had slipped seamlessly back into Josh and Amy’s world – standing right alongside them on the ledge, feeling every danger, every heart-pounding decision, every flicker of hope. Clarke’s writing is beautifully paced and so vividly descriptive that the harsh, untamed West comes alive in breathtaking detail.
This third instalment is darker, more layered, and even more gripping. A perilous rescue draws Josh and Amy into a web of conspiracy, Confederate plots, and ruthless enemies who stalk them in the shadows. The sinister figure of Shadowhawk left me chilled, while the swarm of grasshoppers and other threats reminded me just how fragile survival could be on the frontier. Through it all, Clarke weaves together themes of loyalty, family, and resilience, grounding the drama in an emotional core that never falters.
What continues to hold me most is the way these books balance sweeping adventure with intimate, heartfelt storytelling. Each volume stands strong on its own, yet the threads of Amy’s family and the bonds forged along the way tie the series together with a depth that feels almost like watching a beloved drama unfold episode by episode. The quiet, unspoken growth between Josh and Amy here is tender and bittersweet—adding vulnerability in the midst of chaos and danger.
I honestly don’t know what keeps drawing me so powerfully to this series—it’s not my usual genre—but I’m hooked for the duration. The Flames of Justice is a thrilling, emotional ride filled with danger, heart, and unforgettable characters. I closed the final page already eager for the next chapter in Josh and Amy’s journey.
Fans of historical westerns, survival dramas, or adventurous sagas with true heart should not miss this remarkable series.

A final note…
I can’t help but share this little personal detail. Whenever I picture the character of Sam, I always see Kicking Bird from Dances with Wolves (as played by actor Graham Greene). While I was reading this book, I heard the sad news of his passing on 1 September 2025. It made Sam’s presence in the story feel even more moving for me in this instalment.
