This page explains how I approach book reviews on MoMoBookDiary, including what my star ratings mean and what you can expect from my reviews. All reviews shared here reflect my personal reading experience at the time of reading and are written with honesty, care, and respect.
My Review Approach
I aim to publish thoughtful, spoiler-free reviews that focus on tone, themes, characters, and overall enjoyment rather than detailed plot points. My reviews are shaped by my own reading experience and preferences, and are intended as a guide for readers rather than a definitive judgement of a book.
Star Ratings
I use a ⭐️ star rating system to give readers a quick indication of how a book landed with me. These ratings are based on my own personal scale and may differ slightly from ratings shown on other platforms, where star systems can be interpreted differently. Where relevant, I may expand on why a book earned its rating within the review itself.
My Ratings Explained
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Five Stars – Outstanding. A book I absolutely loved and would happily reread and recommend widely.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Four Stars – Really enjoyed. A solid, satisfying read I’d confidently recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Three Stars – Enjoyable, but didn’t quite click. A pleasant read with elements I liked, but one that didn’t leave a lasting impression.
What I Choose to Review
I choose to feature books I’ve rated three stars or higher on the blog. If a book isn’t the right fit for me, I prefer not to post a public review.
This approach allows the blog to focus on books I’ve enjoyed and feel comfortable recommending, while remaining respectful of the work behind every book. At the end of the day, I simply want to share the books that resonated with me — and maybe help you discover a new favourite along the way.
Disclosure & Transparency
Some books reviewed on this blog are provided as advance or review copies by authors, publishers, or platforms such as NetGalley. Others are books I’ve purchased, borrowed, or already owned.
Receiving a review copy does not influence my opinions. Individual reviews include a disclosure note where relevant.
