Why did I read this book?
I had to read this one — because if you love Gone Fishing as much as I do, how could you not?
This review isn’t part of any promotion, blog tour, or publicity. It’s simply my honest response to a story I deliberately sought out and took the time to read.

About The Book:
Ted’s sniff and tell
It’s hard to believe Ted was once a skinny, unwanted pup who was dumped outside an animal shelter, before he found fame and fortune alongside Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse on the hit BBC series Gone Fishing.
In this exclusive exposé, Ted reveals what it’s like working alongside two national treasures and what really happens when the cameras stop rolling.
With searing honesty, he gives his unique viewpoint on living in a dog’s world and he speaks about how you – yes you – can make it a better place for everyone.
This is his story, in his own words.
Nearly all of it is true.

My Thoughts:
I picked this up expecting a light, amusing companion to Gone Fishing — and while it absolutely delivered on laughs, it also surprised me with just how much heart it carries.
Ted’s sniff and tell is exactly that: a pawtobiography told in Ted’s own words, full of gentle humour, behind-the-scenes snippets, and the kind of observations only a dog quietly watching the world can make. From his early days as a skinny, unwanted pup to becoming an on-set regular alongside Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse, Ted’s voice feels affectionate, self-aware, and wonderfully honest.
What I loved most is how naturally this book mirrors the tone of Gone Fishing itself. It’s calm, comforting, and quietly reflective, with moments that made me smile and others that gave me pause. Ted’s take on life — loyalty, kindness, routine, and finding joy in simple things — lands without ever feeling preachy. It’s gentle wisdom, delivered with muddy paws and a wagging tail.
And then there’s the briefcase. Fans of the show will know exactly why this becomes such a highlight. Ted’s version of events had me grinning — part mischief, part mystery, and entirely on brand. It’s these little details that make the book feel like a true extension of the series rather than just a novelty spin-off.
This is a short, easy read, but it’s one that leaves a warm impression. Whether you’re a long-time Gone Fishing viewer or simply someone who enjoys books that slow you down and make you smile, this is a lovely reminder of why stories — and dogs — have such a special way of connecting with us.
Nearly all of it may be true… but every page is a delight. 🐾📺💙
