About the Book
At sixteen, he got a tattoo of her name. Then he shattered her world.
Seventeen years later, they’re back in the same small town with nowhere to hide…
Carli Caselli battled long and hard to get over Niall Butler—the first love who broke her heart. But returning to Scotland to honour her late mother means confronting the past. Unfortunately, that involves facing beautiful, brooding, grown-up Niall and all their devastating chemistry.
Niall thought leaving Kinshore years ago was the right choice. Now, grief, regret, and family have pulled him home to Scotland. And there she is, blowing him away all over again. Carli Caselli. The woman no other compares to.
For Niall, breaking up with Carli was built on a lie–one he wants to put right–but telling the truth could tear her apart again. And after years spent repairing the damage, Carli is loath to risk it all now. Even if Niall Butler still feels so very much like “the one” that it hurts.
Niall and Carli’s story is a slow-burn, second chance, steamy romance set in Scotland. It is the third interconnected, stand-alone book in the Butlers’ romance series.
About the Author
Amber Cooper is a Scottish lady who lives in a wee flat in Edinburgh, Scotland, with a Scotsman and a Scotscat. I took to writing when chronic illness put paid to too much physical action – and I love it (writing, not chronic illness – chronic illness sucks). Romance writing is even better.
When not writing, I can be found thinking about writing, watching Eastenders (British soap where everyone is always shouting at each other), and going for walks whilst listening to my Spotify playlists and imagining dreamy scenes for my next novel.

The Series…
The Butler family hail from the fictional village of Kinshore on the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland, a place where surf rolls onto shortbread coloured sand and news flies around faster than the wind. The Butlers are Amanda and Jimmy Butler, and their seven children: Cal, Jamie, Niall, Sean, Nate, Cara and Eilidh. Jimmy and Amanda own and operate centuries old Butlers Distillery Limited, the most successful distillery in Scotland. Each story in the series follows one of the siblings, starting with Cal, then Jamie, etc.. They can be read as a standalone or part of the series. If you wish to read about Jimmy and Amanda’s story then grab your free copy of Spirit of a Scotsman by signing up my newsletter using one of the forms on this page. I truly hope you enjoy reading about the Butlers as much as I enjoy writing their stories. I can’t wait to bring you the next one.
Content Warning from Amber Cooper
This book deals with or touches on the topics of grief, terminal illness (Motor Neurone Disease), drink driving, chronic illness (Fibromyalgia) and male mental health. There is one brief mention about a scare during pregnancy. There are several open door sex scenes in this book as well as multiple incidences of profanity within and outside of these scenes. If you think you may be offended by this, then this may not be the book for you.
My review

This was my first read by Amber Cooper—and wow, what an introduction! I only discovered her this past weekend, but as soon as I read the blurb, I had to dive in. A spicy second-chance romance set in Scotland? Yes, please! Add in a brooding Scotsman and the chance for love rekindled, and I was sold.
Niall and Carli’s story pulled me in from the very first page. Seventeen years apart and still carrying the weight of what was left unsaid? My heart ached for them. And the spice? Oh, it’s there, and it’s steamy! But what I loved most was how naturally it fit the story. The emotional depth is what truly got me though. I cried more than once, completely swept up in their reunion and all the tension, tenderness, and hope that came with it.
Amber’s writing style is exactly what I love: you start reading with no expectations, and suddenly, you’re eight chapters in, completely hooked and unwilling to stop. It’s an easy, immersive read, and every word just flows.
As soon as I finished, I didn’t even hesitate, I jumped onto Amazon and bought the Kindle versions of every available book in the series. Yes, I have Kindle Unlimited… but this series has already earned a permanent spot in my digital collection. That’s how much it spoke to me.
I can’t wait to go back and read about the rest of the Butler family—Kinshore and these characters have already carved out a place in my heart. 💙
