Dream Harbor #1

Laurie Gilmore

About the book:

When Jeanie’s aunt gifts her the beloved Pumpkin Spice Café in the small town of Dream Harbor, Jeanie jumps at the chance for a fresh start away from her very dull desk job.

Logan is a local farmer who avoids Dream Harbor’s gossip at all costs. But Jeanie’s arrival disrupts Logan’s routine and he wants nothing to do with the irritatingly upbeat new girl, except that he finds himself inexplicably drawn to her.

Will Jeanie’s happy-go-lucky attitude win over the grumpy-but-gorgeous Logan, or has this city girl found the one person in town who won’t fall for her charm, or her pumpkin spice lattes…

My thoughts:

I absolutely fell in love with The Pumpkin Spice Café. Dream Harbor is the kind of charming small town you can’t help but wish was real. The small-town vibe is utterly enchanting, with a close-knit, welcoming community that makes you feel right at home. I found myself falling for Dream Harbor just as much as Jeanie, who moves to town to take over her aunt’s cozy café. The town’s delightful characters all add to the magic of this setting.

The romance between Jeanie and Logan, the quiet local farmer, is a central highlight. From the moment they meet, the chemistry is undeniable. Logan, still grappling with his past, slowly opens up thanks to Jeanie’s bubbly nature, and their relationship unfolds in the sweetest way. The steamy moments? Well, let’s just say they took me by surprise and had me blushing, yet it’s all woven into the cozy, heartwarming tone of the story.

This book has everything you’d want from a small-town romance: light-hearted fun, a little bit of mystery, and plenty of charm without being overly cheesy. I loved how relatable Jeanie was, and the side characters were equally well-developed, making it easy to connect with everyone in the town. Even though there’s some tension about Jeanie’s arrival, the town’s community spirit is heartwarming.

I devoured this book, and thankfully, being the first in a series I quickly picked up the second book and was thrilled to be back in Dream Harbor – review to follow…

If you’re a fan of small-town romances with a dash of spice and plenty of heart, The Pumpkin Spice Café is a must-read. Highly recommend!

As Melissa McTernan, I write sweet and steamy fantasy/paranormal romance. I love grumpy heroes, sarcastic heroines, and grown-up fairy tales. I am currently working on The Wolf Brother’s series for One More Chapter (a HarperCollins UK imprint). The trilogy follows three werewolf brothers and their (maybe if they don’t screw it up) Mates.
As Laurie Gilmore (my pen name), I write steamy small-town romance. My Dream Harbor series is filled with quirky townsfolk, cozy settings, and swoon-worthy romance. I love finding books with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice and strive for that in my own writing. If you ever wished you lived in Stars Hollow (or that Luke and Lorelai would just get together already!) then these books are definitely for you.
