About the book:
Welcome to No.12 Rue des Amants
A beautiful old apartment block, far from the glittering lights of the Eiffel Tower and the bustling banks of the Seine.
Where nothing goes unseen.
And everyone has a story to unlock.
The watchful concierge
The scorned lover
The prying journalist
The naรฏve student
The unwanted guest
Something terrible happened here last night.
A mystery lies behind the door of apartment three.
Only you โ and the killer โ hold the key . . .
My thoughts:
The Paris Apartment is a dark and gripping mystery that pulls you into the shadowy world behind the glamorous faรงade of Paris. When Jess arrives at her brother Ben’s upscale apartment, she quickly realizes something is amissโBen has mysteriously disappeared. As she interacts with the building’s residents, each with their own secrets, Jess uncovers a tangled web of lies that gradually reveals the truth about what happened to her brother.
The short, sharp chapters add to the tension, making it impossible to put the book down as you eagerly turn the pages. The atmosphere is thick with unease, and the gradual unveiling of each characterโs backstory keeps you guessing until the end.
While the setting of the Parisian apartment feels more closed-off than the vibrant city outside, this claustrophobic feel enhances the story’s intensity. The book excels in creating a strong sense of place, capturing both the glamour and the grit of Paris.
Overall, The Paris Apartment is an enjoyable and suspenseful read with a strong sense of atmosphere, layered characters, and an unexpected conclusion. It may be a bit predictable at times, but the journey is well worth it.
