A D.C. Maggie Jamieson Novel – book 2
Noelle Holten
Published by One More Chapter
About the book:
The serial killer is behind bars. But the murders are just beginning… DC Maggie Jamieson’s past comes back to haunt her in this dark and gripping serial killer thriller. Three missing women running out of time… They were abducted years ago. Notorious serial killer Bill Raven admitted to killing them and was sentenced to life. The case was closed – at least DC Maggie Jamieson thought it was… But now one of them has been found, dismembered and dumped in a bin bag in town. Forensics reveal that she died just two days ago, when Raven was behind bars, so Maggie has a second killer to find. Because even if the other missing women are still alive, one thing’s for certain: they don’t have long left to live…
My Thoughts:
Having been gripped by Dead Inside I did not waste any time in getting started on Dead Wrong, the 2nd in the DC Maggie Jamieson series.
In this book, we learn more about DC Maggie Jamieson. One of the best aspects of a series is how each instalment reveals more about the characters, making them feel like old friends. Maggie’s character is incredibly authentic—she experiences self-doubt and overthinks but is also fiercely loyal and protective of her colleagues and friends. The storyline moves at a fast pace, leaving you breathless but not confused. With plenty of action, tension, and murder, there’s something for everyone.
Noelle Holten breathes new life into the police procedural genre by portraying the police as part of a larger system, the multi-agency approach, she combines this with the human side of her richly developed characters, each worthy of their own spotlight. The result is a compelling read that will engage you and leave you craving more, especially with the cliffhanger she uses to set up the next book!

I met Noelle Holten at the book signing of another author a few years ago.
I bought the first four books immediately. Whilst I was excited to read them, they sat on my bookshelf for way too long! Once I started reading I couldn’t stop and was pleased I had the full set at hand to read as each book ends with a cliff-hanger for the next instalment. I realised in enough time that there was a fifth book and was able to get that just in time!
I am thrilled to highly recommend this series and its talented author, Noelle Holten. She has crafted a brilliant, original, and thought-provoking series. Her experience in the field is evident, providing an authentic portrayal of the damaging effects of domestic abuse across generations and the challenges faced by professionals in this area. The series focuses on the probation service, and the authenticity of the procedures, characters, and dialogue is a major strength. I was captivated from the start and eagerly binge-read the series from the first page of book one to the final page of book five.
