A D.C. Maggie Jamieson Novel – book 5

Noelle Holten

Published by One More Chapter

About the book:

A brutal murder… When a burned body is found with its teeth missing, DC Maggie Jamieson discovers that the victim may be the husband of one of her probation colleagues. As the body count rises, the team becomes increasingly baffled by how the victims could possibly be connected until a clue leads them to a historical case that was never prosecuted. A terrible secret… In order to catch the killer, Maggie must piece together what happened all those years ago before it’s too late.

My Thoughts:

Once again, Noelle Holten hooks the reader from the opening chapter with a tale of revenge laced with her trademark twists. Holten’s ability to deliver shocks and thrills grows with every novel, creating an authentic picture of modern-day policing through detailed police procedurals working with a multi-disciplinary approach. She excels at drawing on human complexity to create multi-layered, interesting characters that form a diverse cast, capturing the reader’s attention throughout the series.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Maggie and the wider team over the series. Fans of Maggie Jamieson won’t be disappointed with this final (so far) instalment.

This gripping novel will keep you turning pages until the very end.

I met Noelle Holten at the book signing of another author a few years ago and bought the first four books immediately. Whilst I was excited to read them, they sat on my bookshelf for way too long! Once I started reading I couldn’t stop and was pleased I had the full set at hand to read as each book ends with a cliff-hanger for the next instalment. I realised in enough time that there was a fifth book and was able to get that just in time!

I am thrilled to highly recommend this series and its talented author, Noelle Holten. She has crafted a brilliant, original, and thought-provoking series. Her experience in the field is evident, providing an authentic portrayal of the damaging effects of domestic abuse across generations and the challenges faced by professionals in this area. The series focuses on the probation service, and the authenticity of the procedures, characters, and dialogue is a major strength. I was captivated from the start and eagerly binge-read the series from the first page of book one to the final page of book five.
