This is an awesome creative and fun poultry based parody of the much loved horror film, A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).
WRITTEN BY CHRIS ALLEN
Chris Allen delivers a script expertly tweaked from the original motion picture into this thrilling 24 page full colour comic. Chris has woven some awesome jokes into the story whilst capturing the thrill of the original slasher movie. Did you enjoy the movie? You will LOVE this comic!!
Chris has also considered those who have never seen the film and made this an enjoyable read! I especially loved the Johnny Depp jokes and the way he uses the comic layout to his advantage.
This is a well written spoof, where the main characters are replaced with birds, which I found fun and would happily recommend.
ART by Juan Fleites
The artwork has been created with fun, friendly chicken/human birds – yeah it sounds weird but it works brilliantly! It is clear that writer and artist worked closely on this idea to bring it to life in such a fantastic way. The chickens make exceptionally expressive characters and that really pulls the reader into the story.
COLOURS AND LETTERS BY CHRIS ALLEN
The fine art detail is expertly controlled by the use of colours which gives the perfectly set tone of the comic. The lettering is perfectly sized throughout the story and draws the eye where it needs to be.
OVERALL
Swampline Comics have produced their Feathered Feature comic ‘A Nightmare on Egg Street‘ with the human characters of the film replaced with birds.
Parody is known to be difficult to get the perfect balance. Swampline have managed this by recognising the essential elements of the original movie while having some fun with them.
A Nightmare On Egg Street delivers all you can ask for, and more!

Kim Roberts is an award nominated comic book writer based in the UK. She graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with a BA (hons) in English Literature and Psychology. She has experience working as an editor and colourist and also has published titles with Markosia.
