MoMo’s Book Diary really enjoyed this heart-warming festive story filled with true magical Christmas adventure and romance. The author writes from four perspectives, Claude, Daisy, Jack and Holly.
Claude – the family dog, who gets left behind after escaping his crate as the family leave to spend Christmas with Daisy’s parents who have just purchased a French chateau.
Daisy – wife to Oliver, mother to Jay, Bella, and twins Lara and Luca.
Jack – postman who lives on Maple Drive but is disappointed that place he has decided to call home is not as friendly as it looked. He lives there and delivers everyone’s mail but as yet doesn’t have anyone to call a friend. It is not the community he expected it to be.
Holly – lives alone after being dumped by her fiancée when he got a great job offer. Holly loves when Jack brings her parcels of crafting supplies which she buys to keep her busy rather than thinking of all that she has lost.
The story covers two days just before Christmas where Claude’s escape and adventure touch each and every resident of Maple Drive in a way no-one would expect… but in such a way that everyone will always remember.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Avon for the opportunity to read and review this book prior to its release.
Synopsis
Christmas a little dog is in for a BIG adventure…
Meet Claude. He’s a loveable, big-eared, permanently hungry French Bulldog, who loves his humans – the McCawley family of number 11 Maple Drive to be precise.
When Daisy and Oliver McCawley start using new words like, ‘ferry’, ‘chateau’ and ‘France’, Claude realises they won’t be spending this Christmas at home. Only, when he finds himself on the street, as the family car pulls away, Claude realises he is ALONE. And more importantly, he is without all the yummy treats he knows the festive season brings…
Cue the start of Claude’s Christmas Adventure. It all begins with a belly-flop through next door’s catflap, where he finds newly single and craft-a-holic Holly, Jack the ex-army postman, his arch nemesis Perdita the cat … and serious amounts of gingerbread.
Maple Drive’s cutest resident is about to bring the street together for Christmas, in ways no-one could have imagined …
